Lakhimpur Kheri Violence: Congress Demands Priyanka Gandhi’s Release, Party to Protest Outside Collector Offices Across the Country

New Delhi, 4th Oct. Congress has announced a nationwide protest against the Lakhimpur Kheri violence on Monday. Congress workers will protest outside DC offices from “Kashmir to Kanyakumari” on Tuesday. Party leaders have appealed to PM Narendra Modi and UP CM Yogi Adityanath to take strict action against those responsible.
Congress leader Rajiv Shukla said, ‘Tomorrow there will be a protest outside of the DM office in every district across the country. This will become a nationwide movement. I demand that the PM and the CM UP take strict action against those responsible.’
Rajiv Shukla has accused the UP Police of illegally detaining Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Congress leaders. He said that Priyanka Gandhi and Deepender Hooda were stopped in Sitapur on their way to Lakhimpur Kheri. Hooda was assaulted. They were illegally detained. Shukla said that this way of stopping political leaders from free movement is very dangerous. Priyanka should be released.
Let us tell you that the Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi had left for Lakhimpur Kheri after midnight on Monday to meet the farmers. Even before reaching Lakhimpur Kheri, the police took Priyanka Gandhi into custody from Hargaon. The Uttar Pradesh Police has put Priyanka under house arrest at a guest house in Sitapur district.
Shukla said that the Congress will hold a nationwide protest on Tuesday and demand a high-level inquiry into the incident. Shukla said, “It is unacceptable and illegal to prevent political people from free movement in a democracy.”
According to the latest reports, there is news of reconciliation between the parties. The administration has accepted the demand of the farmers. Farmers and the Administration in the Lakhimpur Kheri case have reached an agreement in this matter. According to preliminary information, the administration and the farmers together have decided that a compensation of Rs 45 lakh will be given to the families of the victims and a judicial inquiry will be conducted into the matter.
