Thiruvananthapuram, 1st June.
The Kerala government has firmly denied allegations made by Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, D K Shivakumar, regarding alleged animal sacrifices near a temple in the northern part of Kerala. Kerala Devaswom Minister K Radhakrishnan addressed the issue, stating that thorough investigations and inquiries conducted by the government and the Malabar Devaswom Board have found no evidence to support Mr. Shivakumar’s claims.

“Mr. Shivakumar made significant allegations against me, CM Siddaramaiah, and the Congress government in Karnataka regarding alleged animal sacrifices near the Rajarajeshwara temple at Taliparamba in Kannur district. However, our preliminary investigations have revealed that no such incident occurred in or near the temple premises,” stated Minister Radhakrishnan.

He further emphasized that the Kerala government is committed to upholding the law, which prohibits animal sacrifices since 1968, making it highly improbable for such practices to take place in the state. Additionally, the managing committee of the temple in question has refuted Shivakumar’s allegations, terming them as entirely false.

The State Police Chief has received a report from the Special Branch confirming the absence of any evidence supporting claims of animal sacrifices near a temple in Kerala, as asserted by the Karnataka Deputy CM.

Shivakumar’s allegations, made on Thursday, regarding a ritual named “Shatru Bhairavi Yaga” allegedly performed in Kerala, have raised concerns. While he accused unnamed political figures in Karnataka of orchestrating the ritual, the Kerala government and temple authorities maintain that there is no basis to these claims. The government has vowed to continue its investigation to ensure clarity on the matter.
