New Delhi, 14th Jan. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal has alleged a covert partnership between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, referring to it as a “jugalbandi” that may be unveiled in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.
The national capital is gearing up for a high-stakes triangular contest between the ruling AAP, BJP, and Congress in the February 5 polls.
Kejriwal’s remarks came in response to a comment by BJP’s IT head Amit Malviya. Malviya, addressing Kejriwal’s previous post about Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, said, “Worry about the country later, first save the New Delhi seat.” Kejriwal, who represents the New Delhi constituency, retorted, “I wrote one line about Rahul Gandhi, and the response comes from BJP. See how much BJP is troubled. This election will reveal the BJP-Congress partnership.”
Rahul Gandhi Targets Kejriwal
At a rally in Seelampur, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accused Kejriwal of failing to deliver on promises. “He said he would clean Delhi, remove corruption, and turn the city into Paris. What happened? Pollution, corruption, and inflation are rising,” Gandhi said, also criticizing AAP’s silence on the caste census issue.
BJP’s Strategy
The BJP, aiming to unseat AAP after two successive terms, has intensified its campaign, focusing on issues like governance and public welfare.
Congress’s Comeback Attempt
The Congress, which ruled Delhi until 2013, is striving to regain lost ground after drawing a blank in the last two assembly elections. Gandhi promised initiatives such as a caste census if the party comes to power.
As the three parties exchange sharp barbs, the elections are poised to be a decisive contest for control of the national capital.
