New Delhi, 15th Jan. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of attempting to buy votes by distributing money, gold chains, jackets, shoes, sarees, and other goods ahead of Delhi’s Assembly elections. At a press conference, Kejriwal urged voters not to accept such offers, asserting that if candidates from any party, including AAP, distribute goods or money, they should not be supported.
“The BJP is using money and gifts to lure voters. Delhi is not for sale, and we should show these dishonest people that neither Delhi nor its democracy can be bought,” said Kejriwal, adding that AAP’s popularity was rising and predicting a clear victory for his party.
BJP, however, dismissed the accusations, with MP Manoj Tiwari calling them baseless and a reflection of Kejriwal’s desperation. “Kejriwal’s fabricated stories show his frustration. His allegations only reflect his desperation, not the reality,” Tiwari stated.
Tiwari also accused AAP leaders of being involved in corruption, pointing to ongoing investigations into the party’s ministers. BJP’s Vijender Gupta, contesting from the Rohini constituency, called Kejriwal’s remarks a sign of the party’s waning influence in Delhi.
Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia echoed Kejriwal’s sentiments, rejecting the BJP’s tactics, saying, “The people of Delhi are not for sale.”
As Delhi prepares for its Assembly elections on February 5, with the counting scheduled for February 8, the political battle between AAP and BJP is intensifying, marked by sharp exchanges and allegations from both sides.
