Bengaluru, 10th May. Amid the unfolding controversy surrounding the sex video scandal involving JDS MP Prajwal Revanna in Karnataka, the National Commission for Women (NCW) made a startling revelation on Thursday. One of the women complainants in the case has alleged that she was coerced by individuals claiming to be law enforcement officers to file a false complaint under threat of harassment.
Considering the NCW’s allegation, former Chief Minister and JDS state President H.D. Kumaraswamy launched a scathing attack on the Special Investigation Team (SIT) tasked with probing the case. Kumaraswamy accused the SIT officers of intimidating the victims with allegations of prostitution to extract fabricated statements in favor of the Congress government.
“The investigating officers are going to the doorsteps of the victims and threatening them,” Kumaraswamy asserted, challenging Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, who previously described the sex video scandal as one of the largest in the world.
Kumaraswamy further questioned the whereabouts of a kidnapped woman purportedly involved in the scandal and criticized the distribution of private videos of the victims.
Prajwal Revanna, the MP at the center of the scandal, hails from a prominent political family, being the grandson of former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and the son of JDS MLA H.D. Revanna, who himself has been arrested in connection with the kidnapping related to the scandal.
Kumaraswamy, the younger brother of H.D. Revanna, stressed that there was no intent to defend Prajwal Revanna, emphasizing the importance of upholding the law and ensuring that the guilty face appropriate consequences.
In response to the allegations, Karnataka Home Minister G. Parameshwara stood by the SIT’s probe, asserting its efficiency. He dismissed the JDS’s criticisms, stating that the state government need not address every accusation leveled against the SIT.
“The SIT is conducting a thorough investigation, and the state government is treating the matter with utmost seriousness,” Parameshwara affirmed. He assured that once the investigation concludes and the report is submitted, all pertinent details would be disclosed.
Parameshwara also pledged action against any individuals found blackmailing the victims with the compromising videos.
The allegations and counter-allegations surrounding the Karnataka sex video scandal continue to intensify, underlining the complex web of political and legal challenges entwined in the case.
