Karnataka Governor Sanctions Prosecution of CM Siddaramaiah in MUDA Site Allotment Scam

GG News Bureau
Bengaluru, 17th August. Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has approved the sanction for the prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) site allotment scam, according to official sources.

The sanction for prosecution follows three petitions filed by T.J. Abraham, Pradeep, and Snehamayi Krishna. An official at the Raj Bhavan confirmed the decision, stating, “The Governor has granted sanction for prosecution against the Chief Minister.”

Earlier, on July 26, Governor Gehlot had issued a “showcause notice” to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, directing him to respond to the allegations within seven days. This notice was part of the process to determine whether permission for prosecution should be granted.

In response, the Karnataka government had on August 1 strongly advised the Governor to retract the notice, accusing him of “gross misuse of the Constitutional Office” and questioning the motives behind the action.
