Bengaluru- Senior DMK leader Kanimozhi reiterated her party’s opposition to the Centre’s three-language policy, stating that Tamil Nadu objects to the “imposition” of Hindi, not the language itself. In an interview with NDTV, she said, “Coexistence is not a problem, imposition is.”
Kanimozhi emphasized that Tamil Nadu values linguistic diversity but resists Hindi replacing regional languages. She pointed out that while southern states learn Hindi, no northern state adopts a South Indian language.
The debate has intensified as the BJP plans a statewide campaign from March 1, linking education funds to the National Education Policy.
Chief Minister MK Stalin has called the Centre’s stance “blackmail.” Meanwhile, Union Minister Amit Shah, during his visit to Tamil Nadu, apologized for not speaking Tamil, acknowledging it as the world’s oldest language.
