New Delhi, 12th April.
K Kavitha, the daughter of Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader and former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, has approached the Rouse Avenue court to request the registry to include either the application or the order for her arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The BRS leader was arrested by the CBI while in Tihar Jail in connection with an alleged money-laundering case related to the Delhi liquor policy.

Kavitha’s counsel, Nitesh Rana, appeared virtually, and advocate Mohit Rao appeared physically before duty judge Manoj Kumar as today was a court holiday.

The duty judge has scheduled the hearing for the applications at 10 am tomorrow. He mentioned that he does not have any records with him and is not aware of the case’s details.

A CBI request for Kavitha’s custody is expected to be presented in court tomorrow. Kavitha’s husband, Anil Kumar, has been informed about her arrest by the CBI while she is in judicial custody in Tihar jail.

Advocate Mohith Rao informed the court that after the CBI was granted permission on April 5 to question Kavitha inside Tihar Jail, they interrogated her on April 6. However, the order was issued without informing the accused’s counsel. Kavitha’s application opposing the order will be discussed in court on April 26.

The counsel argued that the arrest should not have been made without court orders since she is in judicial custody. Therefore, they requested directions to include the application or order for arrest in the records.

Sources revealed that the CBI filed the application for Kavitha’s arrest on Tuesday, stating that they had questioned and recorded her statement inside Tihar Jail. The court reportedly granted permission on Wednesday evening.

The 46-year-old was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on March 15 from her residence in Hyderabad.

Sources mentioned that the CBI questioned her about WhatsApp chats found on co-accused Buchi Babu’s phone and documents related to a land deal. Allegedly, an amount of 100 crore was paid to the AAP in kickbacks to influence the excise policy for the national capital in favor of a liquor lobby.
