New Delhi, 7th May: After India’s decisive retaliation for the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the nation received a detailed briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor’ from key officials. Addressing the media were Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Indian Army Colonel Sofia Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force.
During the press conference, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stated, “‘Operation Sindoor’ was carried out by the Indian Armed Forces to provide justice to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack and their families. Nine terrorist camps were targeted and successfully destroyed. The locations were carefully selected to avoid damage to civilian infrastructure and to prevent any loss of civilian life.”
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh is a distinguished officer in the Indian Air Force, renowned for her exceptional service as a helicopter pilot. She was commissioned into the IAF on December 18, 2004, after undergoing training in the 21st SSC (Women) Flying Pilot Course, a Short Service Commission course specifically designed for women officers.
Throughout her career, Wing Commander Singh has primarily flown helicopters, notably the Chetak. These versatile helicopters are crucial assets of the IAF, utilized in a wide range of critical missions, including rescue operations and disaster relief efforts.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh’s dedication, efficiency, and outstanding service were recognized with her promotion to the rank of Wing Commander on December 18, 2017, marking her 13th year in service. Her achievements symbolize the increasing and vital role of women officers within the Indian Air Force.
