Shivpuri— A judge in Shivpuri has come under serious allegations of deceit after allegedly tricking his wife into a divorce and then starting a new life with another woman—who herself was already married. Now, both the judge’s ex-wife and the second woman’s husband have approached the courts seeking justice, turning a twisted love triangle into a courtroom saga.
The story began with Rakesh (name changed), a Shivpuri resident who dreamed of seeing his wife Rani achieve her goal of becoming a judge. The couple married for love, and Rakesh supported her education wholeheartedly—from a Bachelor’s degree to a postgraduate diploma in computer applications (PGDCA). His only desire was to empower his wife to succeed. But life took an unexpected turn when Rani, instead of building a future with him, allegedly left him for another man—ironically, a man who was also training to become a judge.
In 2018, Rani met the judge while preparing for judicial services at a coaching institute. The two grew close. According to Rakesh, the judge manipulated Rani into an affair and eventually lured her away from her marital life. On April 16, Rani left home with the couple’s children, jewelry, and belongings. “I wanted to see my wife succeed, not lose her to someone else,” Rakesh said. “That dream has now become the reason for my ruin.”
But the judge’s own story reveals further complexity. His ex-wife Sagun (name changed) has alleged that she was misled into a divorce under false pretenses. The couple had two children, but Sagun claims that physical abuse and verbal harassment became frequent after their marriage. When she questioned the judge, he spun a tale of financial ruin—claiming a multi-crore loss in opium cultivation and threats from mafia groups. To protect her and the family, he insisted, a legal divorce on paper was the only way to safeguard their lives.
Convinced, Sagun reluctantly agreed, and in 2024, divorce proceedings were initiated. But her suspicions deepened when she found her Aadhaar card with the photo of another woman—Rani. “He used to go for ‘morning walks’ at 4 AM. Now I know why,” Sagun said. She has now filed a review petition in the High Court challenging the divorce decree, accusing the judge of fraud and emotional betrayal.
The scandal has shocked the local community and drawn attention to issues of abuse of power and personal ethics in the judiciary. With both betrayed partners now fighting for justice, the case has become a rare instance of a love triangle colliding head-on with the rule of law.
