New Delhi, 10th August.
A joint parliamentary committee has been established to examine the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, with 31 members — 21 from the Lok Sabha and 10 from the Rajya Sabha. The committee is expected to submit its report by the first week of the next Parliament session.

On Friday, the Lok Sabha passed a motion to nominate 21 of its members to the committee. The motion was moved by Kiren Rijiju, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, who proposed that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill be referred to a joint committee of both Houses.
