Jhalod Congress MLA Bhavesh Katara Resigns, the Third in Two Days

Ahmedabad, 10th Nov. Bhavesh Katara, a Congress MLA from Jhalod in Gujarat’s Dahod district, resigned as a legislator on Wednesday night.

After Mohansinh Rathwa and Bhagwan Barad, he is the third Congress MLA to resign in the last two days.

According to an official statement, Katara went to the residence of Assembly Speaker Nimaben Acharya and submitted his resignation to her.

His resignation comes as the BJP prepares to name candidates for the Gujarat Assembly elections. On Thursday, Katara is expected to join the BJP.

Rathwa and Barad had previously joined the saffron party after resigning from the Congress party and from their positions as MLAs.

Gujarat elections will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5, with vote counting taking place on December 8.
