Bengaluru, 19th Oct. JD(S) patriarch Deve Gowda has removed C.M. Ibrahim, the president of the party’s Karnataka unit, for opposing an alliance with the BJP.
Gowda dissolved the state working committee and appointed his son, H.D. Kumaraswamy, as the ad-hoc president of the state unit.
Kumaraswamy, a two-time Karnataka chief minister, is also the legislative unit president.
Ibrahim had rebelled against the party’s decision to align with the BJP for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
He held a meeting on October 16 with like-minded people in JD(S) and declared that his faction was the original one.
He also formed a core committee to submit a memorandum to the party leader, asking the JD(S) not to align with the BJP.
