Attacking the Congress ahead of state Assembly elections, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur said on Friday that the grand old party has vanished and that its farewell song is resonating across the country.
Thakur stated at a public meeting in Jalog that Congress was on the verge of extinction.
“Everything has a phase,” he explained. There was a time when… I’m referring to the Congress party. They are no longer in the country. Finding those whose existence in the country has come to an end is pointless. Their national leaders have been released on bail. In Uttar Pradesh, elections were held. They are only left with two seats.
The sound of farewell is resonating throughout the country.”
Thakur stated, in reference to the recently held five state elections, “Five states held elections, and the winners declared that they would take power. When the results were announced, Channi Ji (Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi) was defeated in both of the seats he ran for. Congress had only one state, which was also taken away from them. We were in four states, and we regained control of all four.”
He stated that the BJP would break the tradition of changing the ruling party’s government every five years (in Himachal Pradesh).
“According to them (Congress), the government in Himachal is changed every five years.
In Uttrakhand, the same thing used to happen, but the tradition has changed. This time, a BJP government will come to power in Himachal Pradesh, and we will end this tradition,” Thakur stated emphatically.
The Chief Minister was in Shimla Rural Assembly constituency, where he inaugurated 14 crore development projects. He declared the establishment of a government degree college in Jalog. Thakur also announced the establishment of a Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) office in Sunni.
“If our proposal is approved under Khelo India for better ground arrangements in Karyali, it can be transformed into a fantastic sports venue.” “Funding for the construction of the temple in Gram Panchayat Ogli would be made,” he said.
Thakur also promised to meet various development needs in the area.
“A degree college will be established in Jalog.” “I’d like to congratulate everyone on the launch of development projects worth Rs 14 crore at Jalog in Shimla Grameen Constituency,” he said.
Thakur slammed Congress, saying, “The MLA of the region has represented the state as Chief Minister.”
But, as far as I can tell, despite being the chief minister, nothing has been done for the region. People want roads and clean drinking water.”
Notably, Congress has represented Shimla Assembly Constituency for decades. Former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh represented the seat as an MLA. Vikramaditya Singh, a Congress MLA, currently represents the constituency.
Thakur continued, “Before coming here, I went to Rampur.” They boldly claim to have been in power for so long. However, how long you stay is unimportant. What matters is your contribution to development. Rampur and Shimla Rural are in the same situation.”
It is worth noting that the Congress party has dominated the Rampur Assembly constituency.
Himachal Pradesh’s assembly elections are scheduled for later this year.
