Vrindavan, 12th Dec. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is set to establish its first international university in Vrindavan, dedicated to imparting the teachings of the Bhagavad Geeta and Sanatan Dharma. The announcement was made by Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister for Higher Education, Yogendra Upadhyay, during a visit to ISKCON Gurukul.

“The proposed university will embody the future of the country by preserving and promoting the teachings of Lord Krishna as propagated by the late Bhaktivedanta Swami and ISKCON’s followers,” said Upadhyay. He expressed aspirations for the institution to attain prominence akin to Nalanda University, which was a hub of knowledge for over a millennium and served 10,000 students at its peak.

Highlighting the importance of Indian traditions, Upadhyay stated, “The basic culture of India will be safeguarded through the development of Sanskrit and ‘sanskriti’ (culture).”

ISKCON Vrindavan’s Public Relations Officer, Pawan Dubey, reiterated the university’s commitment to ancient Indian heritage. “We aim to create a world-class institution rooted in our culture and Sanskrit, fostering values that align with our rich history and tradition,” Dubey said.

The proposed university is expected to attract students globally, positioning itself as a center for spiritual learning and cultural preservation.
