Indore’s Rajwada Traders Halt UPI Payments Amid Cyber Fraud Concerns

GG News Bureau
Indore, 31st Dec. Shoppers heading to the bustling Rajwada area of Indore are being advised to carry cash, as around 650 shop owners in the area have stopped accepting UPI payments. The decision comes after incidents of cyber fraud led to funds being transferred to traders’ accounts from fraudulent sources, resulting in their bank accounts being frozen.

Banks informed traders that these transfers were linked to cybercrimes, prompting merchants to discontinue UPI transactions. As a result, shoppers looking to purchase clothing and other items in the area are left with cash and card payments as their only options.

Notices have been prominently displayed at numerous counters in the Rajwada market, informing customers of the change. The shift away from UPI payments, once a convenient option, has caused inconvenience to the public. Traders are citing cybersecurity risks as the primary reason for their decision, emphasizing the need for safe and reliable payment methods.

Local authorities have yet to address the issue, leaving both merchants and shoppers grappling with the fallout of these security concerns.
