New Delhi, 11th Feb. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his virtual address at India Energy Week 2025, underscored India’s pivotal role in global energy transition and economic growth.
Modi highlighted five key pillars of India’s energy ambitions: resource optimization, innovation, economic and political stability, strategic trade advantages, and commitment to sustainability. He reiterated India’s goal of achieving 500 GW renewable capacity, net-zero railways, and 5 MMT green hydrogen production by 2030.
Citing India’s achievements, he noted a 32-fold rise in solar capacity, 19% ethanol blending, and the formation of the Global Biofuels Alliance with 28 nations. He emphasized India’s refining expansion and upstream oil and gas sector reforms to attract investment.
PM Modi also announced customs duty exemptions on key EV battery materials and the opening of India’s nuclear energy sector to private investment, generating green jobs.
He called upon global stakeholders to invest in India’s rapidly expanding energy ecosystem, expressing confidence in achieving a sustainable and energy-secure future.
