New Delhi, 23rd August. India recorded 8,586 new coronavirus infections, pushing the total number of cases to 4,43,57,546 while active Covid cases fell to 96,506.
The death toll has risen to 5,27,416 with 48 fatalities, including six deaths reconciled by Kerala, according to data updated at 8 a.m.
According to the health ministry, active cases account for 0.22 percent of total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.59 percent.
In the past 24 hours, the active COVID-19 caseload has decreased by 1,142 cases.
According to the health ministry, the daily positivity rate was 2.19 percent and the weekly positivity rate was 3.31 percent.
The number of people who have recovered from the disease has risen to 4,37,33,624 while the case fatality rate stands at 1.19 per cent.
So far, 210.31 crore doses of Covid vaccines have been administered in the country as part of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive, according to the ministry.
