New Delhi, 27th June.
Members of the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) staged a protest near Parliament on Thursday, alleging a paper leak in the NEET-UG examination. Hundreds of IYC members confronted the police and broke barricades as part of what they termed a “parliament gherao” move, vowing to continue their march. The protest follows widespread allegations of paper leaks and irregularities that have sparked unrest among students and parents.

“Thousands of IYC workers have taken to the streets of Delhi today, voicing the concerns of students who are suffering due to the injustices of paper leaks,” stated IYC chief BV Srinivas in a statement on X.

The NEET-UG exam has been embroiled in controversy, with accusations ranging from cheating to impersonation. The National Testing Agency (NTA), responsible for conducting the exam, has come under intense criticism, triggering protests and legal actions. In response, the Union Health Ministry has postponed the NEET-PG 2024 examination, with new dates expected to be announced soon.

In an effort to address the situation, the government has removed the chief of the NTA and established a committee to review and enhance its operational procedures. The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear petitions related to the matter on July 8.

Meanwhile, the Bihar government has transferred the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has already detained several suspects. The CBI has escalated its probe into alleged irregularities, conducting inquiries at a school in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, where they questioned school staff, including the principal, on Wednesday.
