New Delhi, 12th August. Indian Railways has announced the cancellation of 72 trains running between Maharashtra’s Rajnandgaon and Nagpur stations. This decision comes as the department undertakes extensive work to lay a third track between these stations.
The cancellations, which are scheduled from August 4 to August 20, are part of a major infrastructure upgrade costing approximately ₹3,540 crore. This project aims to enhance connectivity along the 228-km stretch between Rajnandgaon and Nagpur.

The construction work and train cancellations come at a time when travel is expected to peak due to Raksha Bandhan on August 19. Passengers are advised to check the status of their trains regularly and plan their travel accordingly. The railway administration has made efforts to minimize inconvenience by modifying some routes and shortening others.
As the third track construction progresses, it aims to alleviate congestion and improve service efficiency in the long run, despite the temporary disruptions experienced by travelers.
