New Delhi, 10th May: Amidst heightened tensions with Pakistan and ongoing military exchanges, Indian defence officials today dismissed reports claiming damage to the country’s S-400 defence system as “baseless, fake news.” The clarification comes as the Indian Armed Forces launched retaliatory strikes against Pakistan following recent large-scale drone and missile attacks targeting Indian locations.

Defence officials stated, “News reports of destruction or any damage to a S-400 system are baseless, fake news,” addressing speculation regarding the advanced air defence system’s status. The S-400 system has been a key asset in India’s response capabilities, particularly since the initiation of ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Meanwhile, according to sources, the Indian Armed Forces launched retaliatory strikes early Saturday, hitting four airbases in Pakistan. These strikes were reportedly conducted immediately after Pakistan targeted 26 locations across India with drones and missiles. Intermittent firing is still underway at multiple places along the Line of Control (LoC).

The Ministry of Defence released a statement detailing recent Pakistani actions, noting that “Drones have been sighted at 26 locations along the International Border and LoC with Pakistan.” These included “suspected armed drones” sighted in areas such as Baramulla, Srinagar, Jammu, Ferozpur, Pathankot, Jaisalmer, and Bhuj, among others. The Ministry confirmed that “an armed drone targeted a civilian area in Ferozpur, resulting in injuries to members of a local family,” who have received medical assistance.

The Ministry emphasized that the Indian Armed Forces are maintaining a “high state of alert” and are “tracking and engaging all such aerial threats using counter-drone systems.” They assured that “the situation is under close and constant watch & prompt action is being taken wherever necessary.” The Ministry also advised citizens, “especially in border areas, to remain indoors, limit unnecessary movement, and strictly follow safety instructions issued by local authorities,” stressing that while there is “no need for panic, heightened vigilance and precaution are essential.”
