Indian Foreign Secretary to Visit Bangladesh Amid Attacks on Hindus

New Delhi, 7th Dec. Amid ongoing attacks on Hindus, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri is set to visit Bangladesh on December 9 for the Foreign Office Consultations (FOC). This visit is viewed as a critical step toward strengthening bilateral ties between the two nations.

According to India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the focus will be on ensuring fair and transparent legal proceedings in Bangladesh, alongside discussions on the escalating crisis in Syria and the safety of Indian nationals there.

Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, stated that key issues, including visa connectivity, trade, border violence, and water-sharing agreements, will be addressed during the FOC. Regarding the potential extradition of Sheikh Hasina, Alam referred to prior briefings where discussions on the topic had been hinted at.

India has expressed deep concern over the worsening conflict in Syria and is expediting efforts to ensure the safety of its citizens stranded there. This visit is seen as a move toward opening a new chapter in India-Bangladesh relations, reinforcing cooperation on regional and bilateral challenges.
