Kinnaur: In a move to connect with the local community, the Indian Army has launched a community radio station named “Voice of Kinnaur” in the Pooh village of Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh. This initiative is dedicated to the people of Himachal and is part of the Army’s flagship scheme, Operation Sadbhavana.
The primary goal of the “Voice of Kinnaur” station is to provide a local platform for broadcasting regional news, promoting local culture, sharing educational and health-related content, and disseminating vital public interest information. The station is designed to honor the sacrifices and contributions of local communities that have played a pivotal role in the nation’s development.
Focusing on local issues, traditions, and community concerns, “Voice of Kinnaur” offers a unique opportunity for people in the region to voice their opinions. The radio station was inaugurated at the Tripix School, where it will operate under the guidance of the school principal.
Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Central Command, emphasized the station’s importance, stating, “Voice of Kinnaur is a symbol of the trust and cooperation between the Indian Army and the people of Himachal Pradesh. It will play a crucial role in preserving cultural heritage, empowering community voices, and providing timely and relevant information to this remote region.”

It is expected to serve as an essential platform for youth, women, and apple farmers to express their concerns, share achievements, and promote local initiatives. The station aims to enhance community engagement by collaborating with local talents, schools, and cultural institutions.
