Washington, 3rd June. Ajay Banga, an Indian-American, took over as President of the World Bank on Friday, becoming the first person of color to lead either of the two global financial organizations, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
On May 3, the World Bank’s Executive Directors appointed Banga, 63, as the 14th President of the World Bank for a five-year tenure.
President Joe Biden stated in February that the United States would nominate Banga to lead the World Bank.
