“India Will Never Bow to Terrorism”: PM Modi Backs Muslim World League’s Stand Against Extremism

Jeddah – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met with Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary General of the Muslim World League, during his state visit to Saudi Arabia.

The meeting took place in the wake of the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of at least 26 people. Dr. Al-Issa strongly condemned the attack and extended heartfelt condolences for the innocent lives lost.

Recalling his previous interaction with Dr. Al-Issa in July 2023 in New Delhi, Prime Minister Modi lauded the Muslim World League’s role in promoting moderation, tolerance, and interfaith harmony. He also highlighted the organisation’s commitment to countering extremism and terrorism.

Referring to India’s civilisational ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (the world is one family), Prime Minister Modi said India’s strength lies in its vibrant and diverse society — one that thrives across cultures, languages, ethnicities, and religions.

The Prime Minister reiterated that India places great importance on its relationship with Saudi Arabia, which has grown into a robust and wide-ranging partnership. He also emphasized the deep-rooted socio-cultural connections between the two nations as a key pillar of bilateral ties.

During the meeting, both leaders expressed commitment to continued dialogue and cooperation in advancing global peace, unity, and social stability.
