Washington D.C., 14th Feb. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former U.S. President Donald Trump reaffirmed their commitment to deepening India-U.S. relations through strategic partnerships in technology, defense, energy, and space exploration. The announcements were made following high-level talks held on February 14, 2025.
A key highlight of the discussions was the launch of the U.S.-India TRUST (“Transforming the Relationship Utilizing Strategic Technology”) initiative, aimed at enhancing cooperation in critical and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum computing, biotechnology, defense, and space.
Nuclear & Space Advancements
The leaders pledged to move forward with the U.S.-India 123 Civil Nuclear Agreement, including plans to build U.S.-designed nuclear reactors in India, with an emphasis on large-scale localization and potential technology transfer.
In the field of space cooperation, 2025 is set to mark a significant milestone with a NASA-ISRO collaboration to send the first Indian astronaut to the International Space Station (ISS) via AXIOM. Additionally, both nations are preparing for the early launch of the “NISAR” mission, the world’s first dual-radar Earth observation project to systematically map environmental changes.
Modi Invites Trump to India
Expressing optimism over the discussions, Prime Minister Modi lauded the revitalization of bilateral ties under Trump’s leadership and extended an invitation for the former U.S. President to visit India.
The meeting also covered trade and defense partnerships, with both sides agreeing to resolve tariff disputes and enhance military collaboration.
