India to Send Four Ministers to Ukraine’s Neighbouring Countries to Coordinate Evacuations

New Delhi, 28th Feb. Government Sources on Monday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will send four Union Ministers to neighbouring countries of Ukraine to coordinate evacuations of stranded Indian Nationals amid ongoing Russian military operations in Ukraine.

“Union Ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Kiren Rijiju and Gen (Retd) VK Singh will travel to neighbouring countries of Ukraine to coordinate the evacuation mission and help students,” Government sources said.

These Union Ministers will go as the special envoys of India.

A second high-level meeting in the last 24 hours over the prevailing situation in Ukraine, especially with the evacuation of Indian citizens was chaired by PM Modi.

Upon his return from Uttar Pradesh on Sunday evening, PM Modi held a two-hour long meeting with Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringla, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba and a host of senior bureaucrats over the prevailing situation in Ukraine.

The Prime Minister in the high-level meeting once again reiterated that ensuring the safety of Indian students and evacuating them is the country’s top priority.

It was also discussed to further enhance cooperation with Ukraine’s neighbouring countries to expedite the evacuation of the stranded Indians.

The central government under the leadership of PM Modi has launched Operation Ganga to bring back stranded students and Indian citizens from Ukraine amid ongoing crisis.

Special aircrafts are being operated by Air India under “Operation Ganga”.
