“India the Best Bet of 21st Century”: PM Modi at Global Renewable Energy Summit

Gandhinagar, 16th Sept. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST) at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, on Monday. The three-day event celebrates India’s significant achievement of over 200 GW of installed non-fossil fuel capacity, with participation from global leaders, industry players, and startups in the renewable energy sector.

In his keynote address, PM Modi emphasized India’s rapid strides towards renewable energy and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to a green future. He said, “India is the best bet of the 21st century. We are the first G20 nation to achieve our Paris climate goals, nine years ahead of schedule.” The Prime Minister also highlighted the significant policy measures taken in the first 100 days of the government’s third term, focusing on infrastructure development and climate action.

PM Modi underscored India’s ambition to achieve 500 GW of renewable energy by 2030, stating that initiatives like the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana would make every household a power producer, contributing to both the economy and environmental sustainability. He added, “India’s green transition has become a people’s movement.”

The Prime Minister also noted Gujarat’s pivotal role in India’s solar revolution, recalling how the state was the first to introduce a dedicated solar policy. He spoke about initiatives to develop solar cities and solar villages across the country, including the city of Ayodhya.

The event drew participation from prominent industry leaders and dignitaries, including Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Prahlad Joshi. The summit is expected to provide a platform for discussions on energy technology, global investment, and policies that will shape the future of green energy globally.
