New Delhi, 10th May: The Indian Armed Forces precisely targeted critical Pakistani military installations, including command centers, radar sites, and ammunition strongholds, using air-launched precision weapons in response to Pakistan’s aggression along the western border and Line of Control (LoC). This was detailed by Indian Army Colonel Sofiya Qureshi during a joint press conference by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Defence on Operation Sindoor on Saturday.
Colonel Qureshi stated that precision strikes were carried out on Pakistani military targets in areas including Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian. Additionally, radar sites at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation bases were also engaged using air-launched weapons from Indian fighter aircraft. She emphasized that this precision targeting aimed to minimize collateral damage, highlighting India’s stated commitment to not seeking escalation.
“In response to Pakistan targeting civilian targets, the Indian Armed Forces retaliated and targeted technical installations, command and control centres, radar sites and ammunition strongholds,” Colonel Qureshi explained. She reiterated that Pakistan military targets at the specified locations were engaged by air-launched precision weapons, with care taken to ensure “minimal collateral damage.”
Outlining the extent of Pakistan’s aggressive actions, Colonel Qureshi noted the use of Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles (UCAVs), long-range weapons, loitering ammunition, and fighter jets against India’s military structures. She stated that at the LoC, drones and heavy-calibre weapons were employed, and airspace infiltration attempts were made in more than 26 locations spanning from Srinagar to Naliya along the International Border and LoC.
Despite India’s successful engagement and retaliation, the airbases in Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, Bhuj, and Bathinda sustained damage, and personnel were injured as a result of Pakistan’s attacks. Colonel Qureshi specifically condemned Pakistan’s “condemning and unprofessional act” of targeting hospitals and schools within airbases in Srinagar, Awantipora, and Udhampur, and highlighted the use of high-speed missiles at 1:40 AM to target Punjab’s airbase station.
These precision strikes on Pakistani military targets, aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure while focusing on avoiding military escalation, were conducted as part of Operation Sindoor, which was launched on Wednesday following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in 26 deaths.
