Kazakhstan, 27th April. India underscored the imperative of adopting a “zero-tolerance approach” towards terrorism in all its forms for the prosperity and development of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states, officials stated on Friday.
Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane articulated New Delhi’s stance during his participation in the SCO Defence Ministers’ meeting in Astana, Kazakhstan.
According to officials, during the meeting, a protocol was signed by the defence ministers of all SCO member states.
The statement further highlighted that Defence Secretary Aramane reiterated India’s unwavering commitment to upholding peace, stability, and security in the SCO region.
He stressed the necessity of adopting a zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms for the prosperity and development of SCO member states.
Aramane also brought attention to India’s longstanding proposal for a Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism at the United Nations.
Additionally, he highlighted India’s concept of Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR), proposed for the Indo-Pacific region.
