New Delhi, 3rd July. India’s coal production for June 2024 has surged to 84.63 million metric tonnes (MT) (Provisional), marking a robust growth rate of 14.49% compared to the corresponding period last year, which stood at 73.92 MT.
In terms of dispatches, India’s coal dispatches for June 2024 reached 85.76 MT (Provisional), marking a notable increase of 10.15% from 77.86 MT during the same period last year. CIL dispatched 64.10 MT (Provisional) of coal, up by 5.41% from 60.81 MT in the previous year. Additionally, coal dispatches by captive and other producers in June 2024 amounted to 16.26 MT (Provisional), showing a robust growth of 43.84% from 11.30 MT in the previous year.
As of 30th June 2024, the coal stock held by coal companies surged to 95.02 MT (Provisional), marking a substantial annual growth rate of 41.68%. Similarly, coal stock at Thermal Power Plants (TPP) rose to 46.70 MT (Provisional) on the same date, demonstrating a significant growth rate of 30.15%.
Aligned with the vision of “Atma Nirbhar Bharat” (Self-Reliant India), the Ministry of Coal continues to implement strategic initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable development and enhancing self-reliance in the energy sector.
