New Delhi, 26th Oct. Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, said that India’s vast scalability, combined with Germany’s precision engineering, holds immense potential for global advancement.
Speaking at the 18th Asia Pacific Conference of German Business (APK) in New Delhi, Goyal underscored that the collaboration between India and Germany in areas like artificial intelligence, semiconductor technology, and green initiatives could unlock unprecedented growth for both nations and beyond.
Goyal highlighted India’s strong macroeconomic base, noting that the country is well-positioned for sustainable development through reform, resilience, and readiness. He pointed to India’s proactive role in combating climate change, reiterating India’s commitment to surpassing its nationally determined contributions (NDCs) under the UN Climate Change Conference (COP21). Ranking 7th on the Climate Change Performance Index (CCPI), India has joined forces with both developed countries and the Global South to lead by example, he said.
The minister acknowledged the Asia-Pacific region’s rapid demographic expansion, set to encompass two-thirds of the global middle class by 2030. He called it a ripe landscape for businesses seeking growth in emerging sectors, adding that the Asia-Pacific Conference will foster invaluable exchange on best practices, industry trends, and policy development.
Praising India and Germany’s shared goals, Goyal quoted German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer’s admiration for Indian culture and invoked the wisdom of Rabindranath Tagore, urging participants to “reach high” and “dream deep” to create a world where their innovations resonate globally.
The conference, organized by the Asia Pacific Committee of German Business and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce, is expected to deepen Indo-German partnerships and catalyze real economic growth, with a focus on tackling global challenges and fostering technological advancements.
