New Delhi, 25th August. In its first response to the attack on Salman Rushdie, India on Thursday condemned the “horrific attack” on the author and wished him a speedy recovery.
Rushdie was stabbed in the neck and torso on August 12 at the Chautauqua Institution in New York, where he had gone to give a lecture.
“India has always stood against violence and extremism. We condemn the horrific attack on Salman Rushdie and we wish him a speedy recovery,” Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson for the External Affairs Ministry, stated this during his weekly media briefing.
