India Celebrates Neeraj Chopra’s Historic Silver Medal at Paris Olympics

Neeraj Chopra’s achievement in the Paris Olympics has been met with widespread acclaim, as President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and other prominent figures celebrated his remarkable success. Chopra, who clinched the silver medal in men’s javelin throw, has now become the first Indian track-and-field athlete to win two successive Olympic medals.

Prime Minister Modi lauded Chopra’s excellence, stating on X, “Neeraj Chopra is excellence personified! India is elated by his Olympic success and he will continue to motivate countless upcoming athletes.”

President Murmu expressed pride in Chopra’s historic feat, noting, “Heartiest congratulations to Neeraj Chopra on winning the silver medal. India is proud of him and looks forward to more medals and glory in the future.”

Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya hailed Chopra’s achievement as historic, highlighting, “This incredible achievement is historic—no individual in independent Bharat has ever done it before in athletics. Congratulations Neeraj, you’ve inspired a nation.”

Fellow athletes also joined in celebrating Chopra. Manu Bhaker, who won two medals in the Paris Games, tweeted, “Congratulations on yet another medal at the Olympics!! Your hard work and dedication are truly inspiring.”

Olympic medallist shooter Gagan Narang praised Chopra’s perseverance, saying, “Heart of GOLD gave us a Silver lining today. Congratulations and best wishes for LA2028.”

Chopra secured the silver medal with a season-best throw of 89.45m at the Stade de France. BCCI secretary Jay Shah, Indian cricket head coach Gautam Gambhir, pacer Mohammed Shami, former batter VVS Laxman, and legendary cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth all celebrated his achievement, praising his dedication and the pride he has brought to India.

The country rejoices in Chopra’s historic success, celebrating his role as a source of national pride and inspiration for future generations.
