Warsaw, 22nd August. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian diaspora in Warsaw on August 22, 2024, at an event organized in his honor by the Indian community. His visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Poland in 45 years.

Welcomed with enthusiasm, Modi emphasized the significance of his visit and expressed eagerness to meet President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Donald Tusk to strengthen India-Poland relations. He highlighted the shared democratic values between the two nations and praised the Indian diaspora for their role in enhancing bilateral ties, including their contribution to Operation Ganga.

Modi encouraged the community to promote Indian tourism and be part of the country’s growth story, citing the Dobry Maharaja, Kolhapur, and Battle of Monte Cassino memorials as examples of strong people-to-people connections. He announced the Jamsaheb Memorial Youth Exchange Program, which will invite 20 Polish youth to India annually, and acknowledged Poland’s support during the Gujarat earthquake.

Discussing India’s progress, Modi expressed confidence that India will soon become the world’s third-largest economy and outlined his vision for India to be a developed nation, or Viksit Bharat, by 2047. He noted the expanding partnership with Poland in new technology, clean energy, and green growth, and reaffirmed India’s commitment to “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” – the belief that the world is one family – as it continues to contribute to global well-being and humanitarian efforts.
