Lucknow, 17th April.
With just two days remaining before the commencement of national elections across the country, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, accompanied by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, made a bold declaration on Wednesday, asserting that the BJP would be wiped out from Ghaziabad to Ghazipur.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Yadav emphasized the disappointment among farmers due to unfulfilled promises by the BJP, labeling them as false. He expressed confidence in the INDIA alliance’s ability to secure victory, asserting that the coalition of Pichde-Dalits-Alpasankhyaks (backward classes, Dalits, and minorities) would defeat the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.

“Ghaziabad on Uttar Pradesh’s western periphery votes on April 26, while voting in Ghazipur in eastern UP will be held on June 1,” Yadav noted, highlighting the electoral timeline.

The INDIA alliance, according to Yadav, represents a new hope in the elections, with a commitment to addressing issues such as poverty and farmer welfare. He praised Rahul Gandhi’s manifesto, emphasizing the potential to eradicate poverty through measures like MSP guarantee and increased farmer income.

Taking aim at the BJP, Yadav accused the ruling party of being a “warehouse of corruption,” citing the electoral bond controversy as evidence. He emphasized the importance of combating corruption in Indian politics.

Echoing Yadav’s sentiments, Rahul Gandhi targeted the BJP and its ideological mentor RSS, accusing them of undermining democracy and neglecting issues like unemployment and poverty.

While refraining from making seat predictions, Gandhi expressed optimism about the alliance’s performance, particularly in Uttar Pradesh. He cited reports indicating improvement in their prospects and highlighted the strength of the alliance.

Akhilesh Yadav stands as one of the key opposition leaders within the INDIA alliance, formed in 2023 to challenge the BJP in the ongoing elections. Alongside him and Gandhi, the alliance includes prominent figures such as Mamata Banerjee, MK Stalin, Lalu Prasad Yadav, and Uddhav Thackeray, collectively forming a formidable coalition against the ruling party.
