Prime Minister Modi applauds India’s historic achievement of 1 Billion Tonnes Coal Production

New Delhi— India has achieved a historic milestone by crossing 1 billion tonnes of coal production, marking a significant step toward energy security, economic growth, and self-reliance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the achievement as a “proud moment for India” and praised the relentless dedication of those involved in the sector. Responding to Union Coal and Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy’s announcement on social media platform X, PM Modi highlighted the accomplishment’s importance, stating, “Crossing the monumental milestone of 1 Billion tonnes of coal production is a remarkable achievement, highlighting our commitment to energy security, economic growth and self-reliance. This feat also reflects the dedication and hard work of all those associated with the sector.”

Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, in his X post, acknowledged the coal sector’s role in strengthening India’s energy infrastructure, emphasizing the government’s focus on boosting domestic production to reduce reliance on imports.
