New Delhi, 4th April.
Senior advocate Dinesh Dwivedi and Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud shared a delightful moment in the hallowed halls of the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

Dwivedi, donning his multi-coloured hair, attributed his vibrant locks to the recent Holi festivities, jesting, “Apologies for my colourful hair. It is because of Holi. This is the disadvantage of having a lot of kids and grandkids around. You can’t save yourself.”
Chief Justice Chandrachud, quick-witted as ever, seized the opportunity to inject a dose of humour into the conversation. “Nothing to do with alcohol?” he quipped, eliciting laughter from the courtroom.

Playing along with the lighthearted banter, Dwivedi confessed, “It does. Holi means partly alcohol… and I must confess… I am a fan of whiskey.”

The courtroom erupted in laughter, as the exchange added a touch of levity to the proceedings.

Amidst the jovial atmosphere, a nine-judge Constitution bench was diligently hearing a case concerning industrial alcohol. The bench deliberated on whether industrial alcohol is synonymous with the edible alcohol available in markets, and the jurisdictional nuances between the Centre and state governments concerning industrial alcohol production.

Representing the state of Uttar Pradesh, Dwivedi argued passionately that all forms of alcohol should fall under state control.
