Kota, 20th August. Kushagra Rastogi, an 18-year-old IIT aspirant from Uttar Pradesh, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Kota on Monday. Rastogi, who had been in Kota since April for coaching, was discovered unconscious in a hostel bathroom and was rushed to the hospital, where he later died during treatment.
According to Jawahar Nagar police station SHO Hari Narayan Sharma, Rastogi had been residing in a hostel in the Old Rajeev Gandhi Nagar area. His mother had arrived in Kota two days prior to visit him. On Monday morning, after Rastogi did not return from the bathroom for 10-15 minutes, his mother went to check and found him unconscious. She immediately sought assistance from the hostel staff and took him to the hospital.
The exact cause of Rastogi’s death remains unclear. The body has been moved to a mortuary for further examination. SHO Sharma stated that the post-mortem will be conducted once Rastogi’s father arrives in Kota on Tuesday.
“We are awaiting his father’s arrival before informing the mother of her son’s death,” Sharma told IANS. “The doctors are still uncertain about the cause of death. We expect to have more clarity after the post-mortem.”
The investigation into the cause of the teenager’s death is ongoing.
