IFFI Should Encourage Creative Economy, says Anurag Thakur

New Delhi, 9th July. Anurag Thakur, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, said on Friday that he perceives the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) as a way to promote the business of cinema and boost the country’s creative economy.

Thakur was speaking at a meeting of the IFFI Steering Committee, which will be held in Goa from November 20 to November 28.

According to an official release, the committee, chaired by Thakur, discussed ways to improve collaborations with international filmmakers, participation of regional cinema, giving a platform to young filmmakers, and showcasing new trends in cinema as well as emerging technology that enhances the experience of cinema lovers.

Thakur said, the IFFI is a festival that aims to promote the business of cinema for the benefit of the film industry by providing collaborations and networking opportunities in order to boost India’s creative economy.

He went on to say that the creative economy has the potential and talent to create new entrepreneurs in the media and entertainment sectors, which will help India become a global content and post-production hub.

The festival’s goal is to provide a common platform for filmmakers from around the world to showcase their talent and showcase the best of cinema from around the world.

The festival is co-organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s Directorate of Film Festivals and the Goa government.
