New Delhi- Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will inaugurate the “Workshop on Sustainability and Circularity in Dairy Sector” on March 3 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event, organized by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD) in coordination with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), aims to promote sustainable dairy farming through circular economic practices.
A key highlight of the workshop will be the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for setting up biogas plants in multiple states. These initiatives align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Sahkar se Samriddhi’ (Prosperity through Cooperation), integrating sustainability with economic growth. The workshop will also see the release of guidelines for environmentally responsible dairy farming and financing support for large-scale biogas projects under NDDB, NABARD, and the Sustain Plus Project.
Technical sessions will explore innovative manure management models, waste-to-energy solutions, carbon credit opportunities, and the role of advanced technology in enhancing efficiency in dairy farming. Experts from NDDB, industry, and global organizations will contribute insights into expanding circular dairy practices.
The event will bring together senior government officials, including Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Ministers of State Prof. S.P. Singh Baghel and George Kurian, as well as representatives from key ministries such as New & Renewable Energy, Forest & Climate Change, and Petroleum & Natural Gas.
With a focus on circularity, efficiency, and sustainability, the workshop aims to drive long-term growth in India’s dairy sector while ensuring environmental responsibility.
