New Delhi, 4th August.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the 24×7 Manimajra water supply project on Sunday, with Punjab Governor and Union Territory Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria in attendance.

The Rs 75 crore project is expected to benefit over one lakh residents in Manimajra, including those in Modern Housing Complex, Shivalik Enclave, Indira Colony, and Shastri Nagar.

As part of the Smart City mission, the initiative aims to improve water efficiency by providing a continuous high-pressure supply and minimizing storage.

Key objectives of the project include reducing water wastage through leakage control, implementing smart metering, decreasing reliance on groundwater, and monitoring energy consumption.

The infrastructure includes 22 km of new water supply pipelines and two underground water reservoirs, each with a capacity of two million gallons per day.
