New Delhi, 18th June. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Tuesday lauded the Indo Tibetan Border Police’s (ITBP) Mountain rescue team for their heroic efforts in conducting a successful rescue operation in Lahaul & Spiti.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Amit Shah expressed his pride in the “brave Himveers” of the ITBP.
He highlighted that the ITBP Mountain Rescue Team undertook a challenging mission to recover the mortal remains of an American citizen who tragically lost his life in a paragliding accident. The operation, carried out at an altitude of 14,800 feet, involved significant risk as ITBP personnel scaled high mountain cliffs in response to a request from the local administration.
Amit Shah emphasized the humanitarian nature of the mission, describing the ITBP’s dedication to humanity as commendable. The Home Minister’s tribute underscores the valor and selfless commitment of the ITBP in serving the nation and extending assistance during critical situations.
The successful operation in Lahaul & Spiti stands as a testament to the ITBP’s unwavering resolve and capability in conducting high-altitude rescue missions, ensuring safety and providing essential aid in remote and challenging terrains.
