New Delhi, 20th Sept. Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday called on Naxals to renounce violence, lay down their arms, and surrender, warning that an extensive operation will be launched against them if they do not comply. Speaking to 55 victims of Naxal violence from Chhattisgarh at his residence, Shah declared that Maoist influence would be eradicated by March 31, 2026.
Shah emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made it a priority to eliminate Naxal violence and ideology from India. “I appeal to Naxals to give up violence and surrender, just as militants in the northeast have done. If you do not listen, we will conduct an all-out operation to end this menace,” he stated.
The Home Minister highlighted the achievements of security forces, noting that Naxal activities are now concentrated in just four districts of Chhattisgarh. He remarked that the Maoists had previously aimed to create a corridor stretching from Pashupatinath in Nepal to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh, but that plan has been dismantled by the current government.
In addition, Shah announced that the Ministry of Home Affairs will soon develop a welfare scheme for individuals affected by Naxal violence in Chhattisgarh, working closely with the state government.
“We will assist you through our welfare measures in jobs, healthcare, and other areas,” he assured the victims.
