After Khalistani flags were seen tied to the gates of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly in Dharamshala, Chief Minister Jairam Thakur called the incident “cowardly,” adding that strict action would be taken against the perpetrators.
CM Jairam Thakur condemned the incident, saying, “We are attempting to capture their moment using CCTV cameras at the location. I’d also like to encourage the people of Himachal Pradesh to keep the peace. We will definitely take strict action against the perpetrators. We will also collaborate with other states to strengthen our border security system.”
“I condemn the cowardly incident of raising Khalistan flags at the gate of Dharamshala Assembly Complex in the dark of night,” CM Thakur wrote on Twitter. Thakur stated in the Legislative Assembly about security, “This assembly only holds winter sessions, so more security is required only during that time. This cowardly incident has taken advantage of this, but we will not tolerate it. This incident will be thoroughly investigated, and the perpetrators will face severe punishment.”
“I’d like to tell those people that if you have the courage, come out in the light of day, not at night,” CM Jairam Thakur said in a tweet.
BJP: ‘Khalistani upsurge after AAP government formed in Punjab’
In an exclusive interview with Republic TV, BJP spokesperson RP Singh said of the Khalistani flags seen outside the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, ” “Following the formation of the AAP government in Punjab, there has been an increase in the number of Khalistani elements. It occurred in Patiala and in Malerkotla. Khalistanis with Faizpur roots were discovered in Karnal (Punjab). It has now occurred in Himachal. So there has been an increase since Bhagwant Mann and the AAP formed the government in Punjab.”
Earlier, RP Singh slammed AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal over BJP leader Tajinder Bagga’s arrest, claiming that the Delhi CM was distracting people to avoid questions about the rise of Khalistanis in Punjab following the Patiala violence.
Provocation by Khalistanis outside Himachal assembly
Earlier on Sunday, Republic TV obtained footage from Dharamshala showing Khalistan flags tied to the gates of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly. Images from outside the Himachal Pradesh Assembly gate show Khalistan flags and inscribed on walls with the intention of inciting terror in the region.
Khushal Sharma, SP Kangra, told ANI about the provocation by Khalistani elements “It could have happened late last night or early this morning. The Khalistan flags have been removed from the Vidhan Sabha gate. It could be the work of some Punjabi tourists. We’re going to file a complaint today.”
It is worth noting that earlier in March, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannu called for the hoisting of the Khalistani flag in Shimla, to which the Anti-Terrorist Front of India responded by burning the Khalistani flag outside the deputy commissioner’s office in Shimla and raising slogans against Khalistan’s demands.
