Chandigarh, 12th Feb. Haryana Minister Anil Vij has submitted his response to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following a show cause notice issued over his remarks targeting Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and state BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli.
Vij, who holds the energy and transport portfolios, submitted an eight-page reply on Tuesday night. Speaking to reporters, he stated, “Before the deadline, I have submitted my reply. If the party needs an answer to anything else, I will provide that too.”
Refusing to disclose the details of his response, Vij remarked, “It has been sent in a sealed envelope and cannot be disclosed in public.” However, he questioned how the show cause notice itself was leaked to the media before he officially received it. “If the party wants, they should investigate how a secret communication was made public,” he added.
The BJP had issued the notice to Vij on Monday, acting on instructions from the party’s national leadership. The notice stated that his public statements against the state BJP president and the chief minister’s post were serious allegations, violating party policy and internal discipline. Vij was given three days to respond.
In his earlier remarks, Vij had voiced frustration over the lack of action against those who allegedly worked against him in the elections. He had accused senior leadership of inaction, stating, “I had submitted a written complaint against those who tried to defeat me—be it officials, employees, or small-time leaders. It has been 100 days, yet neither have I been asked about it nor has any action been taken. I suspect that someone big was behind this conspiracy to defeat me.”
He also took a dig at CM Saini, saying, “Since becoming Chief Minister, he has been constantly flying in ‘udankhatola’ (helicopter). He should come down and look at the public. This is not just my voice, it is the voice of all MLAs and ministers.”
Vij had also demanded last month that state BJP chief Mohan Lal Badoli resign until he is proven innocent in a gang rape case filed against him in Himachal Pradesh. Badoli, along with singer Rocky Mittal, was booked in a case after a woman alleged that she was assaulted in a hotel in Kasauli. However, the Himachal Pradesh Police later submitted a cancellation report in court, citing a lack of evidence.
The controversy surrounding Vij’s statements has intensified internal tensions within the Haryana BJP, ahead of the crucial election campaigns in the state.
