Haryana Govt Appoints Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor as New DGP

Chandigarh, 16th Aug. The Haryana government announced the appointment of Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor (IPS:1990: HY), a senior IPS officer, as the state’s next Director General of Police (DGP) on Wednesday (16.08.2023).

Kapoor succeeds his predecessor, PK Agarwal (IPS:1988: HY), in this capacity.

The state government has given official directives for Kapoor’s appointment as the next DGP.

This shift comes after the retirement of PK Aggarwal, who retired on August 15. The Haryana Police Academy gave him a heartfelt farewell.

“On the consideration of the panel received from Union Public Service Commission, the Governor of Haryana is pleased to appoint Sh. Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, IPS as Director General of Police, Haryana (Head of Police Force) for a minimum tenure of at least two years from the date of his assumption of charge, in terms of the judgement of the Hon’ble Supreme Court passed in W.P. (Civil) No. 310/1996 titled as Prakash Singh and others Versus Union of India, and till further orders thereafter,” the Haryana government said in a statement.
