Varanasi, 12th Nov. Following the orders of the Allahabad High Court, district judge A K Vishvesha set December 5 as the next date of hearing in the Gyanvapi mosque-Shringar Gauri case.
According to district government advocate Mahendra Pandey, the case has been postponed until December 5 due to the high court’s decision to hold a hearing in the matter in the first week of December.
The Gyanvapi mosque management committee objected to the petitioners’ demand for a survey of two underground places (“tahkhana”) on the mosque grounds on November 2.
The petitioners’ lawyers had requested more time to file their counter-objection, so the district judge set November 11 as the next date for hearing in the matter.
Pandey stated that during the November 2 hearing, the Hindu petitioners demanded a survey by unlocking the locked cellars on the Gyanvapi campus.
He stated that the lawyers representing the mosque committee had objected to it and that the other side had requested time to file a counter-objection.
