Green Mahakumbh in Prayagraj: Focus on Environmental Protection

Prayagraj, 8th Jan. Prayagraj is set to host the Green Mahakumbh on January 31, 2025, bringing together over 1,000 environmental and water conservation champions from across India. Organized under the Gyan Mahakumbh-2081 series by the Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, this event highlights the city’s commitment to merging culture and spirituality with environmental sustainability.

Environmental Focus

The Green Mahakumbh will feature national-level discussions on nature conservation, water management, and cleanliness. Experts will address challenges in maintaining ecological balance and propose innovative ways to promote environmental awareness among Mahakumbh visitors.

Cleanliness Initiatives

Aligned with its Clean Mahakumbh vision, Prayagraj Municipal Corporation launched the Swachhata Rath Yatra to raise awareness about cleanliness. The initiative, supported by government agencies, public representatives, and local citizens, encourages proper waste management and sustainable practices.

Community Participation

The Rath Yatra featured street plays, musical performances, and awareness drives on waste segregation using wet and dry bins. Mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani described it as a “Jan Jagran Yatra,” urging citizens to avoid littering, adopt eco-friendly practices, and keep the city clean for Mahakumbh attendees.
