Ahmedabad– Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday praised the people of Mithilanchal and Bihar for their contributions to Gujarat’s development and emphasized the region’s historic role in strengthening democracy and philosophy.
Speaking at the Shashwat Mithila Mahotsav 2025 in Ahmedabad, Shah announced plans for a grand temple dedicated to Sita Mata, stating it would symbolize Nari Shakti (women empowerment) and serve as an ideal model for life.
“When I visited Bihar during the Lok Sabha elections, I had said that after the Ram Mandir, now it’s time for a grand Sita Mata temple. This temple will send a powerful message of woman power to the world,” Shah declared.
Highlighting the contributions of people from Mithilanchal and Bihar in Gujarat, he assured them that they are safe, respected, and welcome in the state.
Shah also lauded Mithilanchal’s intellectual legacy, tracing its influence back to the times of Ramayan and Mahabharat, with the ancient kingdom of Videha being a cradle of democracy.
Quoting Mahatma Buddha, he remarked, “As long as the people of Videha stay united, no one can defeat them.” He further noted that Mithilanchal had long been a center for Shastrartha (intellectual debates), shaping four of India’s six major philosophical traditions.
The event saw the participation of cultural and community leaders, celebrating the rich heritage of Mithilanchal.
